Street art for social justice organisation Paint the Change began collaborating with Rich Mix in 2020. Working within Rich Mix’s marketing team, I led on bringing the stories behind the giant murals to life, providing vital context to the works and spreading their messages of hope and community spirit from Tower Hamlets out to the world.

On display from September 2020 - September 2021, ‘200 Nationalities, One NHS’ was believed to be the largest mural in the UK to celebrate the work of the NHS. Spanning four storeys, this giant mural celebrated diversity in the healthcare service, which is made up of almost 200 nationalities across 1.7 million members of staff. The mural was formed by 226 flowers drawn by artists and members of the public, then made into a giant piece of art and applied to the front of Rich Mix. I collected each flower with the stories behind them, then devised the digital marketing and press strategies for sharing this timely story. The mural gained press coverage from BBC and Time Out.

The ‘Culture for a Changing City’ community mural was our second collaborative public artwork with Paint the Change, to welcome people back and celebrate the local area as we came out of lockdown in 2022. Working with long-term partner Halima Khanom and local community groups, this mural reflected on the people that make up Tower Hamlets, and captured their personal stories with portraits and artwork of cherished items. Working with Paint the Change, we captured poetry, family anecdotes and poignant memories from the mural participants, sharing them over social media and online.

Finally, I worked as Project Manager in our collaboration with Google Arts & Culture, leading on uploading all mural content to the platform, sourcing further material and stories from each mural so that it became available for anyone in the world to view. I also managed the comms and marketing around Rich Mix’s launch on Google Arts & Culture in January 2023.
